Tradition corrosion monitoring techniques requiring manual ultrasonic thickness measurements are expensice due to the cost of gaining access to the pipe for measurement, oftern requiring pipe excavation, coating removal, sensor placement,etc. GE's Rightrax system continuously monitors corrosion at a fraction of the cost while providing frequent and reliable information that significantly improves decision-making.

  • System thickness resolution: The resolution of the thickness reading through the complete system is the smallest change that can be reliably detected. This is influenced by short-term temperature fluctuations. These variations will result in changes in the temperature profile across the pipe wall.
  • Thickness accuracy: Accuracy depends on correct system configuration of material velocity. Calibration standards or material specifications of the material are required for accurate results. This accuracy applies for uniformly corroded inside wall. Highly localized pitting may not be detected.
  • Tickness resolution single reading: With temperature variations at rates less then 1C (33.8F) per minute over a 5C (41F) range, the resolution is improved to the value obtained using regression analysis.
  • Total number of sensors per attached data logger: Using 10-way multiplexer
  • Total number of data loggers per line driver: Each driven by a 10-way multi-core cable with a maximum length of 260 m (853 ft)
  • Maximum total number of sensor extension cable per system: An individual sensor can have up to 70 meters of extension cable, but the total length of extension cable for the whole system cannot exceed 450 m (1476 ft)
